On March 8th, 2010 training on the topic "Evaluation of Foster Parents Candidates" took place in the Community Support Centre in Sofia.
The training was organized by the Social Activities and Practices Institute - Sofia and training leaders were: Associate Professor Nelli Petrova and Dr Nadya Stoykova.
The goal of the training was: to increase the knowledge and skills of the specialists to apply the new methodology in the social work with children and families regarding the assessment of the needs of the clients and the development of skills for making professional evaluations of candidates for foster parents.
Participants in the training were representatives from the CPU, Sofia and Sofia region, as well as the team working on the project "Extension of the Foster Care Model in Bulgaria".
The following topics were discussed:
Foster care/adoption - what are they?
Presented was a framework for evaluation and monitoring of candidates for foster parents. A film revealing the story of the candidate for foster parent was shown.
The work in small groups provided the participants with the opportunity to discuss various phases of the evaluation of the foster parents candidates.
