On November 4th, 2009 S. J. – an independent Swiss expert, arrived in Shoumen to evaluate the efficiency of the project “Building the Capacity and the Relationship between the Juvenile Justice System and the Monitoring of Child Labour in Bulgaria”.
The project started on 22.01.2009 in the Complex for Social Services to Children and Families in Shoumen and is implemented by Association Social Activities and Practices Institute (SAPI) within the second phase of the project of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for the development of the system for monitoring child labour in Bulgaria. During his stay the Swiss independent expert met the organizational team of the Complex for Social Services. An important part of his monitoring was his meeting with some of the children who receive help under the project and their parents. The program of the independent expert continued with a work meeting with the partners who supported the implementation of the activities of the project. Representatives from the Child Protection Unit, the Child Pedagogic Room, pedagogic advisors from schools that are our partners for the project, and social workers from the Complex shared opinions about the achieved results and their contentment with the team work. The difficulties that the experts met in their work with the children and their parents were also discussed. On November 5th in Sofia a meeting was organized with representatives from SACS, SSD, MLSP and other partners on the project from its first and second phase of implementation. The difficulties and challenges related to the project implementation were analyzed and the direction of future actions was pointed out for the successful elimination of the problem of children involved in hard labour.
