After an invitation from the French Embassy in Bucharest and with the aid of the French Embassy in Sofia the representative of the Social Activities and Practices Institute Associate Professor Nelly Petrova participated in a Round Table on the topic "Child Hearing for the Purposes of Justice Provision" on 04.04,2013 in Bucharest. The Round Table was organized in relation to the start of a French-Romanian project for the building of specialized rooms for hearing of children participating in legal procedures in Romania.
The Bulgarian experience was valuable in a moment when it was important to make a decision where to build the premises. Associate Professor Nelly Petrova explained the logic of the location of these premises in Bulgaria, which corresponds to all international standards in this sphere - to have child-friendly building structures, and not to stigmatize the children, to provide a number of services, including placement, to be accessible for various kinds of specialists, to guarantee that there would be no confrontation with the suspect of the crime, in other words, to be on a neutral ground. Shared was also the experience in the introduction of the multi-disciplinary approach to work in this practice, which is an absolutely obligatory precondition, highlighted by our colleagues in France from the Association “Vois d”enfant”. The judicial framework was presented by Daniela Masheva, a prosecutor in the SCP.
