The newest project of the Complex for Social Services to Children and Families in Sofia - "New generation" - was presented at a work meeting with partners from the Municipality of Shumen that was held on September 28th, 2010.
The project starts on October 7th, 2010 and will be implemented with the financial support of the "Culture" Fund to the Municipality of Shumen. Polina Iordanova - a social worker in the Complex and specialist-social animator - takes up the responsibility to support children with demonstrated creative skills to master attractive art techniques for painting and modelling. "The idea for the implementation of the project came as a result of the increasing need for the development of extracurricular activities that will allow children to acquire knowledge about various art forms and to communicate in non-formal settings" - said Polina Iordanova. Within the concept of the project lies the effort of the team of social wokers to support children with creative skills in the sphere of contemporary art and photography. In this way the children will develop their skills and will have the opportunity to demonstrate them at public events the first being on March 11th, 2011 at a special thematic exhibition. Since 2006 the Complex in Shumen has successfully developed activities with children in the art sphere with the long-term support of partners such as the French children organization "Solidarite Laic", the art gallery "Elena Karamihailova", "Stoyan Chilingarov", the Home "Kalinka', "Dobri Voiniov" and the club "Rodoliubie". In the Complex work specialists that have passed training in social animation for child art therapy. Volunteers from the Peace Corpus actively participate in these activities as well. Our extensive experience gathered together with pedagogical advisors and teachers from the community and our contacts with specialists from the social sphere contributed for the success of the activities so far.
