Information meeting on foster care in Botevgrad
The team of the Social Activities and Practices Institute /SAPI/ from the Regional Foster Care Centre /RFCC/-Sofia held an information meeting on the topic "Foster Care" on 27.08.2010 in Botevgrad. Twenty-two people participated in the meeting, among them: workers from the Home for Children Deprived of Parental Care "Nadezhda" in the village of Gurkovo, representatives from kindergarten and schools in the Municipality of Botevgrad, officers from the municipal administration and other interested citizens.
The specifics and the essence of the foster care service were presented at the meeting, the difficulties that foster families meet were discussed, as well as the support they receive. Shown was the film "Unconditional Love" that stirred a heated discussion among the participants. After the end of the meeting the experts from the RFCC answered questions regarding the requirements and the stages that have to be passed by a family before it is confirmed as a foster care family.

Meetings on Foster Care in Dragoman
On 16.08.2010 a work meeting between representatives of the Regional Foster Care Centre -Sofia, representatives from the Child Protection Unit, and the Mayor of Dragoman - Mrs. Sonia Doncheva was held. Discussed was the strategy for providing information to the municipality regarding the voluntary and professional foster care. Mrs. Doncheva expressed her willingness to cooperate and suggested that information materials be distributed on August 28th which is the official town holiday. Up to date, there are two voluntary foster families in Dragoman.

Foster Care Information in the Labour Bureaus
The cooperation between the Regional Foster Care Centre in Sofia and the Labour Bureaus continues. Every day between 10 a.m. and 12 a.m. a representative from RCFC delivers information regarding the professional foster care. Unemployed persons can consult our representative every Monday in the Labour Bureau - Vazrajdane, every Tuesday - LB - Iztok, and every Friday - LB - Serdika.

Information campaign in the town of Samokov
On 11.08.2010 in the town of Samokov representatives from the Regional Foster Care Centre, part of the Social Activities and Practices Institute /SAPI/, together with representatives of the Child Protection Unit held a campaign for the distribution of advertisement materials and flyers regarding foster care. The materials were distributed in front of the supermarket "Billa".
During the town celebrations on 20.08.2010 at 6 p.m. in the bulding "Sarafovata Kashta" will be distributed advertisement materials with information about the forthcoming information meeting on foster care that will take place on 24.08.2010 in the town hall of Samokov.

Information meeting on foster care in the village of Vakarel
On 10.08.2010 in the village of Vakarel the team of the Regional Foster Care Centre informed unemployed persons that are actively seeking employment about the possibility to become foster parents. With the cooperation of the mayor of the village Mr. Zashev an information meeting was scheduled that will take place on 14.09.2010 at 11:30 a.m. in the building of the village council. Advertisement materials are being spread among the residents of the village.

Training of voluntary candidates for foster families
On August 5th,2010 ended the training of two voluntary candidates - foster families from the municipality of Kostenec. The new methodology developed by the Social Activities and Practices Institute and the International Social Service - Bulgaria for training foster families was applied. The methodology was developed within the project "Extension of the model for foster care in Bulgaria", funded by UNICEF.

Information meeting on foster care in the city of Ihtiman
On 05.08.2010 the SAPI team from the Regional Foster Care Centre-Sofia held an information meeting on foster care in the Labour Bureau in Ihtiman with representatives from the Roma community. Eleven people were present at the meeting and they were interested in the provision of the service. The thematic film "Unconditional Love" was shown and the goal of the meeting was explained in detail. The film evoked tears in the eyes of most of the women. At the end of the meeting some of the participants asked individual questions and declared their will to apply for foster parents. It was decided that there will be follow-up meetings with more people.

The children in CSC-Sofia visited new interesting places within the framework of the summer program
As part of the summer program of the CSC - module "Cultural Tourism" - on 05.08.2010 was organized a visit to the Natural History Museum. The goal was to introduce the children to the biodiversity of the animal and plant species. Six children from the Home "P.R.Slaveikov" took part in the event.
On the way to the museum the children used the underground and had a chance to see the buildings of the Presidency, the Ministerial Council, the National Assembly, and the Bulgarian National Bank, as well as learn about the public function of these buildings. They were very impressed by the golden statues of St. Sofia and the Fire in front of the monument of the Unknown Soldier. One of the children shared that this fire burns in the memory of the thousands of soldiers who died in the name of Bulgaria. In the museum the children looked through the expositions, commented on them excitedly, and asked numerous questions.

End of the workshop "I am grown-up now"
On 28.07.2010 /Wednesday/ at 10:30 was held the last workshop "I am grown-up now". The workshop has sessions during the whole of July. Each session was held on Wednesday between 10:30 and 12:00 o'clock. The final session was held on the big terrace of the Complex. The workshop leaders had prepared various games, practical exercises, and food for all of the participants. Specials diplomas were prepared beforehand for participation and enthusiasm during the workshop. The diplomas were honoured at the end of the final session.

Social workers from CSSCF Pazardjik were invited at a unique performance of the Child School "Petrovden"
On 24.07.2010 social workers from the Complex in Pazardjik attended the première of the performance "As You Like It" by Shakespeare in the village of Patalenica in the municipality of Pazardjik. The invitations were by the director of the school "Konstantin Velichkov" in the village of Patalenica - Mr. Kolev, as well as by a client of the CSSCF. This is the eleventh consecutive year when the children Shakespearean school "Petrovden" in the village of Patalenica presents a play by Shakespeare at an open air stage - in the school yard. Director of the play is the English professor and director Rex Doil. This year the performance is in the memory of Leon Daniel, Dimitar Bojkov and the creator of the children Shakespearean school "Petrovden" - Hristo Tserovski.
